The Cedar Point Dream

Everyone knows this place, home to some extreme coasters, insane rides and one huge reputation. The coasters alone boast such a reputation with the first hyper (Magnum XL 200), the first giga (Millennium Force) and the first strata (Top Thrill Dragster) as well as rides such as Gatekeeper and Rougarou along with what is considered the best coaster in the world- Steel Vengeance. This park is the holy grail for many enthusiasts and I am one of those people so I thought I'd break it down and look at why I am so desperate to get to Sandusky, Ohio. History Of course the history undergraduate had to go straight to this but this park seems to have its history brushed to one side as its a park that constantly adapts, yet it is older then our old friend Pleasure Beach by 26 years and of their 16 operating coasters, only 6 opened this century. It's a park that keeps moving forward, always at the forefront of the amusement industry and breaking records. This is evident by the closure of ...

Going to Your First Event

In exciting news and a long time away, the blog is back! No promises on how regular it will be but hopefully this will be more consistent again. Now despite sitting on a lot of ideas and posts that are already written, I wanted to talk about events in the enthusiast community. As you may be aware, we went on our first event last weekend and to put it short, we had an amazing time. After enough of seeing people have fun and not being involved we decided to try and get on an event. I booked on to the Pleasure Beach Experience September Event and after some convincing Austin booked on for the first day as well. This was nerve wracking, mainly due to the fact we are awkward people and I'm really anxious, especially meeting new people. Ultimately, it is somewhat of a leap of faith, you book on to that first ev...

My Ideal Park: Part 4- Finale

Here we are, the conclusion of this 4 part series where I attempt to paint a picture of what my ideal theme park will look like, from the entrance and basic overlook to a more detailed plan of each themed area within the park. While this would costa fortune to build and will never happen, it won't stop me from dreaming. In this final part we will recap and give an overview of the rides and areas of the park. Additionally, we will now look at the final area: The Film Studio Welcome to the final area, admittedly the least themed one in the park but I just wanted to get a bunch more rides in and have a solid place for all families as well as being indoors to cover all weather. That being said, it is still themed, just not in the same detail as it is meant to be a studio with multiple sets so that's my excuse for the lack of theme. Wild Mouse There is something so appealing to me of an indoor wild mouse, not being able to see where you're going while also spinning round is cha...
