My Ideal Park: Part 3

Welcome back to Ember Dome Bark! As we continue to venture through this imaginary park, I hope it has been engaging to read. In this part we will be looking at the Middle Ages and Western themed areas.  The former will be situated at the very top of the park, opposite the entrance and linking between the Jungle area on the left and the Western town on the right. These areas should have some major rides at the park and some of my favourite ideas so far. This will only leave one area left of the park for the finale but that will also include a full overview and recap of the series. Anyway, its time to go!

Middle Ages Village Centre

The idea behind this one is to have a Klugheim/Camelot style area. As a history nerd I needed something with historical ties. The idea is you are suddenly transported into the past and find yourself in 14th century England, with all the staff being i  character to heavily convey this idea. The challenge will be to get back to the correct time period as things aren't quite as they seem.

Boat Ride

I had to do it, this is basically Valhalla but with a slightly different theme so fits in the area. Instead of it being vikings, something related to the Black Death instead as it ravages through people and the animatronics slowly becoming more twisted but then water starts coming from all angles from a flood and you are able to get out before getting infected.

Vekoma Family Boomerang

Having already mentioned Klugheim, a lovely rip-off of Raik will do nicely. So far it has primarily been thrill coasters with the next level of thrill being the GCI, therefore something to fill that gap in the family market will do nicely in this park and area. As this is a family ride, there will be no dark theme and just meant to be a nice journey through the land, seeing the sights in a whistle stop tour of sorts.

Tea Cup ride

One of these absolute classics that I know my Dad would hate. I think every park could do with one of these, we always have a blast on these as we get way too dizzy. The Mack model seems like a good option to me so we'll put that in and have it themed to barrels of alcohol (I know it's not original) but the key here is that the tune of Ring a Ring of Roses, this song is known for being based off the Black Death, subtly hinting at the overarching story of this area, in reality the darkest themed area of the park, very Merlin-esque.

B&M Invert

Essentially the evil version of Black Mamba/Nemesis. You will not be the good guys in this ride as this will be black track and supports- using colour to show that this track is actually the Black Death spreading across the town. This ride will be weaving through buildings and twisting round, a few inversions and very intense experience. The big highlight should be the moments of Interaction on the boat ride, as unless guests experience this first, will not think too much of it. Probably a standout will be an inline twist over the the trough.

Ideally guests will start with the boomerang then the tea cups, onto the invert and finish with the boat ride as it slowly reveals itself. This will also have a real marketplace with a cafe and shop.

Western Town

Pretty standard area for a park but either way it should be a happy, stress free area, especially after the last area covered. There will of course be a saloon for food and drinking as well as an hourly stunt show in the area to make this feel really alive. Filled with authentic buildings and detailed theming to boot, this area should be great for families to walk round in.

RMC Ibox

It's inevitable that I was going to include one of these, for the last 5 years they appear to have become the pinnacle of coasters and it doesn't look like stopping yet. This should be around 170ft tall and really throw riders out their seat with an abundance of air time along with a couple of inversions, one must be a zero G stall. Arguably the showpiece of the entire park, this should be a great ride and the one that will really draw people around the globe to the park. I think a rustic dull red track will add to it and just meant to represent the wild side of being out in the desert.

Gyro Swing

Another fan favourite for this area, having done Maelstrom at Drayton Manor, I love these rides and this is my favourite flat ride so far. This should look somewhat like Cyclonator at Paultons Park and be a really great ride to get photos of as it will sit in the middle of the main town square. Not too much to report other than it will be massive and intense.

Interactive Dark Ride

Probably bring in Sally Dark Rides for this one as they do amazing stuff. I'm selling this as a mix between the theme of Sheriff Showdown and the quality of Sesame Street: Street Mission. This should be a great ride for all ages and really add to the park. A rough story line about being recruits for the local cowboys and they take you for target practice to make sure you're good enough and things get out of hand. Ending with getting back safely, this ride will be great for everyone. The station will also feature 2 leaderboards: one for the day and one for all time top scores.

B&M Wing Coaster

I love these rides, again only having done one but still. This will be nice and graceful while still being a big ride. The classic dive drop will be used and another in line twist with a few other elements sprinkled but this will be mainly about head and foot choppers to make sure it is creating that feeling of doom that every good coaster does. there will also be a massive lake that it will spend time going over just to make the setting that bit better.

There we are! We're almost done with this series, just one left to go which will cover the final area as well which will be a movie studios kind of vibe so not too intense on the theming but the difference is this will have a few extra attractions and will all be located indoors to function as an option when it is raining along with the dark rides on offer, just to give guests those options which is vital. The Ember Dome Park is well and truly taking shape and should be interesting to see the completion of the park.

As always, thanks for reading and let me know what rides you'd like to see in the final area of the park.

Take care and see you in the next post!

Tom ✌

The Cedar Point Dream

Everyone knows this place, home to some extreme coasters, insane rides and one huge reputation. The coasters alone boast such a reputation with the first hyper (Magnum XL 200), the first giga (Millennium Force) and the first strata (Top Thrill Dragster) as well as rides such as Gatekeeper and Rougarou along with what is considered the best coaster in the world- Steel Vengeance. This park is the holy grail for many enthusiasts and I am one of those people so I thought I'd break it down and look at why I am so desperate to get to Sandusky, Ohio. History Of course the history undergraduate had to go straight to this but this park seems to have its history brushed to one side as its a park that constantly adapts, yet it is older then our old friend Pleasure Beach by 26 years and of their 16 operating coasters, only 6 opened this century. It's a park that keeps moving forward, always at the forefront of the amusement industry and breaking records. This is evident by the closure of ...

Going to Your First Event

In exciting news and a long time away, the blog is back! No promises on how regular it will be but hopefully this will be more consistent again. Now despite sitting on a lot of ideas and posts that are already written, I wanted to talk about events in the enthusiast community. As you may be aware, we went on our first event last weekend and to put it short, we had an amazing time. I thought it may be useful to write up my thoughts on events now the metaphorical dust has settled. Making the Leap I will admit, I was hesitant of going on an event for a while. After enough of seeing people have fun and not being involved we decided to try and get on an event. I booked on to the Pleasure Beach Experience September Event and after some convincing Austin booked on for the first day as well. This was nerve wracking, mainly due to the fact we are awkward people and I'm really anxious, especially meeting new people. Ultimately, it is somewhat of a leap of faith, you book on to that first ev...

My Ideal Park: Part 4- Finale

Here we are, the conclusion of this 4 part series where I attempt to paint a picture of what my ideal theme park will look like, from the entrance and basic overlook to a more detailed plan of each themed area within the park. While this would costa fortune to build and will never happen, it won't stop me from dreaming. In this final part we will recap and give an overview of the rides and areas of the park. Additionally, we will now look at the final area: The Film Studio Welcome to the final area, admittedly the least themed one in the park but I just wanted to get a bunch more rides in and have a solid place for all families as well as being indoors to cover all weather. That being said, it is still themed, just not in the same detail as it is meant to be a studio with multiple sets so that's my excuse for the lack of theme. Wild Mouse There is something so appealing to me of an indoor wild mouse, not being able to see where you're going while also spinning round is cha...
